The Inter-Tribal Association of Nigeria (ITAN) has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to stop the witch-hunt against the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

In a statement signed by Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the group, ambassador Ibrahim Tanimu expressed dismay over political witch-hunt against Yahaya Bello.

“We condemn in totality the political witch-hunt against the former governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello and also we calling on the EFCC to have fear of God while discharging their duties not allowing the enemies of Nigeria to be using them in bringing down people of high reputations and integrity like Yahaya Bello.

“Corruption is a serious issue that requires diligent and thorough investigation. However, when political agendas drive these investigations, innocent people often become casualties in a dangerous game of power and manipulation”.

“Instead of focusing on legitimate cases of corruption, political witch hunts perpetuate a culture of fear and paranoia, where even the most upstanding citizens can become targets.

“The impact of these witch hunts is devastating, not only for the serving or former Governors involved, but for the public’s trust in the justice system as a whole.

“It is imperative that we put an end to this destructive practice and uphold the principles of justice and fairness. We must demand that investigations into corruption are conducted with integrity and impartiality, free from political interference and personal vendettas.

“Additionally, those who engage in these witch-hunts must be held accountable for their actions, in order to deter future abuses of power”.
