150 Amateur Golfers Converge In Kaduna For First Bank Golf Tourney

At least 150 amateur golfers from across the country have arrived Kaduna state capital to participate in the First Bank of Nigeria sponsored golf tournament at the Kaduna golf club.

Speaking at a press conference preparatory to the official tee off of the tournament on 30th November, 2024, the Kaduna Golf club captain, Mr Ken Okonkwo said all is set to showcase a memorable tournament.

According to him, the categories to be completed for prizes are the men 0-14 category, men 15-28 category and the veteran men category.

Others are Veteran ladies category, Ladies and the super veteran men.

Auxiliary prizes to be given include prize for longest drive for bothe men and women and nearest to pin both for men and women.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Director of the bank Idris Ado Ibrahim who represented the Managing Director said the tournament is very dear to the bank while thanking the management for giving first bank the opportunity to sponsor this tournament .
He said, First bank have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the development of sporting talents in Nigeria and globally . “We have been a driving force in the promotion of diverse sporting events through an initiative that we call First At Sport Initiative, this has been orchestrated by our legacy sponsorship of tournaments.

“This sponsorship is not limited to this event we have other sports like tennis, football, basketball etc in the north our sponsorship started along time and we are going to continue, Golf is an inspirational sports cutting across age , gender, culture, language, belief etc. We strongly believe that there is no better place to build and strengthen relationships other than golf course, therefore we are once sponsoring this event for golfers to showcase their talents through the competition to foster opportunities and continue to build on the legacy that the club has created for a century.

“It is the conviction of the bank that we are at the right place that this avail us the opportunity to support all and sundry in the society. As always this year’s tournament is expected to bring together both male and female golfers. We already have 150 golfers from all over the country to participate.

“This inclusivity will also drive participation of individuals such as traditional rulers within and outside Kaduna , captains of commerce and industry, senior stakeholders, corporate organizations, private and public individuals etc. first bank is therefore delighted with this partnership and we are optimistic that it will foster many more collaboration that will further promote golf . We are confident that the successful outcome will serve as an inspiration to many” he stressed.
