In a poignant show of solidarity, the TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation has joined the Nigerian Army in mourning and honouring 17 gallant soldiers who paid the supreme price during a deadly confrontation with suspected bandits in the Bangi community, Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.

The solemn event comes as the Nigerian Army, under the directive of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), declared a three-day national mourning period from June 25 to June 27, 2025.

As part of the tribute, flags are being flown at half-mast across military installations and public institutions nationwide in recognition of the soldiers’ ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Chairman of the TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani in a statement on Friday reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to standing with the Nigerian Armed Forces in their quest to protect the nation from internal and external threats.

Danfulani, speaking on behalf of the Foundation’s Grand Patron,  Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai (rtd) who is also the former Chief of Army Staff emphasized the importance of national unity, remembrance, and support for the troops during this trying period.

He praised the rapid response of the Nigerian Air Force, which provided critical aerial support during the confrontation, a move that prevented further casualties and demonstrated inter-agency synergy in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and banditry.

Gen. Buratai extolled the bravery and professionalism of the Nigerian military, expressing deep confidence in their capacity to overcome the prevailing security challenges facing the nation.

“I have full confidence that the Nigerian military will do its best to surmount the security challenges across the country,” Gen. Buratai said. “The support of all other security agencies is needed to achieve a secure and peaceful Nigeria.”
