The Institute of Professional Learning and Advancement (iPLACE) has joined the rest of the world in commemorating the 2025 International Youth Day with a renewed commitment to equip young Nigerians with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in a changing global environment.

In a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer of iPLACE, Mr. Osita Okoro, and made available to journalists on Monday, said the future of the country depends on how young people are empowered today.

According to him, this year’s theme, “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” aligns with iPLACE’s mission of building capacity and fostering innovation among young people.

“At iPLACE, we don’t just teach skills — we help young people unlock their potential to lead, create, and innovate in their communities. Our commitment is not only to educate but to elevate”.

He added that over the past year, the organisation has expanded its impact through various youth-focused initiatives, including the Future Leaders Program, which has trained more than 2,000 young professionals in leadership, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship; he Young Innovators Fellowship, a mentorship and capacity-building programme for youth-led social impact projects; and Skill Up Workshops in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and digital marketing.

Okoro disclosed that in the coming months, iPLACE will roll out a series of international programmes to connect young changemakers with industry leaders, funding opportunities, and global networks.

He called on governments, the private sector, educators, and communities to strengthen their support for youth development, stressing that collaboration is key to building a generation capable of driving inclusive and sustainable growth.
