The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna State Chapter, has called on the State Government and relevant agencies to urgently address the problem of epileptic power supply affecting residents in parts of the State.

The call was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the association’s Congress held in Kaduna on October 24, 2025, and signed by the Chairperson of the Communiqué Drafting Committee, Juliet Ekwenugo, and Secretary, Hauwa Mohammed, with the State Secretary, Hadiza Bello Abdullahi, endorsing it electronically.

The association expressed concern that persistent electricity outages were crippling small businesses and affecting the daily lives of citizens, stressing the need for government intervention to restore reliable power supply.

NAWOJ also commended the Kaduna State Government for emerging third in the Nigeria Climate Governance Ranking, describing the feat as a “remarkable milestone” that reflects the State’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible climate policies.

While acknowledging the progress made, the association raised alarm over the increasing activities of scavengers across the State, which it said pose risks to public health, safety, and the environment. It urged the government to regulate and monitor scavenging operations to prevent insecurity and ensure environmental hygiene.

The association further applauded the ongoing Measles Vaccination Campaign being implemented by the State Government and health partners, describing it as a vital step toward protecting children from preventable diseases. It also encouraged parents and caregivers to actively participate in the exercise.

NAWOJ Kaduna also commended the State Government for its readiness to host the 2026 NIPR Week, expressing optimism that the event would enhance professional collaboration and promote a positive image for the State.
