The Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating retired Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, as Minister of Defence.

The union said the development has continued to generate positive reactions across the country despite earlier reports confirming the nomination.

In a statement issued by its President, Engr. Tabara Samuel Kato, SOKAPU described General Musa as a seasoned military officer whose experience would be valuable in strengthening the nation’s security architecture.

Kato noted that the former defence chief has an established record in managing sensitive security operations, adding that his appointment has renewed hope among communities affected by insecurity.

He appealed to the Senate to expedite action on the confirmation process, saying Nigerians expect a smooth transition that will contribute to the ongoing fight against criminality.

The SOKAPU leader said the nomination reflects President Tinubu’s willingness to deploy competent individuals to critical sectors of government.

According to him, the people of Southern Kaduna appreciate the recognition given to one of their own, describing it as a gesture that reinforces inclusiveness in national leadership.

Kato stated that the Southern Kaduna community remains grateful for the trust reposed in General Musa and expressed optimism that he would deliver on the responsibilities of the office.

He reaffirmed SOKAPU’s support for the administrations of President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, adding that the group will continue to work toward peace and stability in the state.
