Kaduna SWAN Pays Courtesy Visits On NUJ Chairman

The Kaduna State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Thursday, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, Comrade AbdulGafar Alabelewe at the council’s secretariat, using the opportunity to congratulate him on his emergence as the chairman last month.

The SWAN Chairman, Shehu Abdullahi, represented by his vice, Mike Odeh James, who led the delegation to the chairman’s office congratulated him and other EXCOs.

In his remarks, James sought the chairman’s support, saying, “let SWAN and NUJ be united.

“We look forward to the cordial relationship NUJ and SWAN had in the past”.

“We are hoping to welcome you back. SWAN is open for all. I hope that we are going to be partnering with you”.

He also appealed to the Chairman to bring back sporting activities to the NUJ, adding that the sporting equipment should be handled by SWAN.

Responding, the Chairman, NUJ, Kaduna Council, AbdulGafar Alabelewe promised to renew his SWAN membership.

Alabelewe said that he recognizes SWAN, adding that he is only waiting for directives from the national.

“We need to end this crisis once and for all and we are going to succeed. We need to ensure that there is no any other problem. We will take it up to ensure the crisis resolve at the national level”. He said.

He also promised to start sporting activities at the NUJ, with SWAN coordinating it, adding that journalists also need physical fitness.

Others on the visit, were; Kaduna SWAN Secretary, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, Treasurer, Juliet Ekwenugo and members, Elder Sam Otitolaye, Amina Anebi and AbdulGaniyu Alabi.

The Kaduna NUJ Secretary, Comrade Gambo Santos was also on ground to receive the visitors.
