The Coalition of Northern Security Watch, Youths Accountability and Transparency Advocate Network has strongly condemned what it described as “malicious and unfounded allegations” made against Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Ahmad Abdulrahman, by a dismissed staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdullahi Ishaq Jibrin.

In a statement released on Friday, the Coalition came to the defence of AIG Abdulrahman, who currently serves as the Chief Security Adviser to the Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad. The group dismissed the allegations made by Jibrin, a former personal aide to Abdulrahman, as a “baseless act of ingratitude aimed at discrediting a man of honour.”

Addressing the press in Bauchi, the President of the Coalition, Alhassan Abdullahi, described AIG Abdulrahman as a seasoned professional with an unblemished track record in policing, security, and public administration.

“AIG Abdulrahman has served with distinction across multiple commands in Nigeria, including as Commissioner of Police in Ekiti, Bayelsa, Kaduna, and Enugu states. He also held the position of AIG in Zone 14 and was the Commandant of the Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State. His record as a former Director of Operations at the EFCC speaks volumes of his credibility and patriotism,” Alhassan stated.

Reacting to Jibrin’s claims that AIG Abdulrahman is lobbying for the office of Commissioner for Security and Internal Affairs in Bauchi State, the Coalition firmly refuted the allegation.

“There is absolutely no truth in the claims. AIG Abdulrahman has never solicited for the position of Commissioner nor for the role of Chairman of the Bauchi State Anti-Corruption Committee. He is a man of principle who is content with the responsibilities given to him by the State Governor,” the statement read.

Alhassan further emphasized that the synergy between AIG Abdulrahman and the current Commissioner of Security and Internal Affairs has been instrumental in ensuring peace and safety across the state.

“The two work harmoniously and complement each other’s efforts in safeguarding lives and property,” he added.

The Coalition also highlighted the spiritual and humanitarian side of the retired AIG, noting that he is a respected Islamic scholar known for his philanthropic gestures.

“It is appalling that someone who benefitted greatly from the generosity of AIG Abdulrahman would turn around to malign his character. Jibrin was not only supported financially—including house rent payments—but was also given opportunities that many can only dream of,” Alhassan lamented.

Describing Jibrin’s accusations as a “desperate attempt to bite the fingers that fed him,” the Coalition called on the public to disregard the claims and stand by the truth.

“AIG Abdulrahman deserves justice, not slander. He is a man of integrity who has contributed immensely to the security architecture of Bauchi State. His reputation is built on decades of service, and it remains intact despite this smear campaign,” the Coalition said.

Reiterating their unwavering support, the Coalition affirmed their confidence in AIG Abdulrahman’s continued commitment to serving the people of Bauchi and Nigeria at large.

“We stand solidly behind him. His legacy as a distinguished officer, administrator, and scholar cannot be tainted by lies and betrayal,” the statement concluded.
