The Niger State Government has expressed deep appreciation for the timely humanitarian assistance extended by the TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation and Tukur and Tukur Foundation in response to the recent devastating flood in Mokwa Local Government Area.
Officials from both foundations, led by representatives of former Chief of Army Staff and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Benin Republic, His Excellency, Amb. Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai (CFR, Rtd), paid a condolence visit to the state capital, Minna, where they met with key stakeholders in the health sector before proceeding to the flood-affected communities.
Speaking during the engagement, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Secondary and Tertiary Health, Dr Abdullahi Imam, lauded the swift intervention of the foundations, describing it as a vital contribution to the ongoing recovery efforts.
“The timeliness of the Foundation’s assistance during this challenging period is highly appreciated,” Dr Imam stated, noting the critical importance of immediate medical outreach in mitigating post-disaster health risks.
The TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation, in collaboration with the Tukur and Tukur Foundation, has launched an emergency medical outreach program to provide urgent healthcare services to displaced and vulnerable residents in flood-ravaged areas.
Following the strategic meeting in Minna, the foundations’ delegation journeyed to Mokwa to kick off the intervention, which prioritises access to primary healthcare, treatment of waterborne diseases, and distribution of essential medical supplies.
According to Nana Fateema Mohammed and Muhammad S. Abubakar, Information Officers from the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Healthcare, the support has been warmly welcomed by residents and local authorities.
“Nigerlites express deep appreciation for the compassion and actionable support shown by the TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation and Tukur and Tukur Foundation as communities rally to rebuild and recover,” they said in a joint statement.
Dr Imam echoed this sentiment, reaffirming the state’s readiness to collaborate closely with the foundations to restore health and dignity to affected communities.
The outreach is part of a broader nationwide initiative by the Buratai-led foundations to deliver essential health and humanitarian aid to crisis-hit populations across Nigeria.
State officials, traditional leaders, and members of the affected communities commended the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of genuine leadership and empathy.
As flood recovery efforts continue, the Niger State Government and its partners have pledged sustained cooperation to ensure lasting impact and improved resilience in vulnerable areas.
