In a bold move aimed at deepening youth engagement and political participation, the National Youth Alliance (NYA) has appointed 186 Local Government Coordinators across the North-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

The announcement was made on Saturday by the Youth President of the NYA, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas.

The appointments, described by the NYA as a strategic milestone, are part of the organization’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots structure, promote leadership development, and galvanize young Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, Ambassador Bin Abbas congratulated the newly appointed coordinators and tasked them with the responsibility of engaging youth at the ward level.

He directed them to immediately commence the nomination and appointment of coordinators across the region’s 1,330 wards, ensuring full grassroots penetration and effective organizational reach.

“The appointments are not merely ceremonial,” the Youth President stated. “They are strategic. Coordinators must demonstrate discipline, integrity, unity of purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the ideals of youth empowerment, good governance, and national transformation.”

The NYA leadership also reiterated its vision to mobilize young Nigerians beyond political apathy, providing a credible platform for meaningful participation in leadership, policy advocacy, and nation-building.

The move is expected to foster peace, inclusion, and constructive political engagement across North-West communities. The NYA expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated coordinators would rise to the occasion, serving as ambassadors of the movement and driving its agenda at the grassroots level.
