The Kaduna State chapter of the ADC Youth Consultative Forum has endorsed Hon. Shuaibu Idris, popularly known as Mikati, as its preferred governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 Kaduna State governorship election.
The endorsement was announced in a statement signed by the chairman of the forum, Comrade Aminu Yahaya, on May 9, 2026.
The group said the decision followed what it described as “extensive consultations, critical assessment of the current realities facing Kaduna State, and careful evaluation of credible personalities within the political landscape.”
According to the forum, the endorsement was based on merit, competence, leadership capacity and the need for purposeful governance in the state.
The youth body described Idris as a leader with the intellectual depth, integrity and administrative competence required to address the challenges confronting Kaduna State.
The statement highlighted his educational background and policy understanding, noting that he possesses the strategic thinking and exposure needed to provide quality leadership.
The forum also commended Idris’ leadership and human resource management capacity, saying he had demonstrated competence in administration, coordination and public engagement throughout his professional and political career.
“At a time when citizens are demanding transparency, accountability and responsible leadership, Hon. Shuaibu Idris stands out as a man of integrity and credibility,” the statement said.
The group further cited his economic understanding and financial capacity as qualities that would help drive investment, youth empowerment and infrastructure development in Kaduna State.
It added that Idris enjoys wide acceptance among youths, community leaders and stakeholders across the state due to his humility, accessibility and grassroots connection.
The forum also praised his political maturity and ability to foster unity across different divides, describing him as a bridge-builder committed to inclusive leadership.
The ADC Youth Consultative Forum called on the leadership of the party, stakeholders, youth and women groups, religious and community leaders, as well as residents of Kaduna State, to support Idris’ governorship ambition.
According to the forum, the endorsement reflects the aspirations of progressive youths seeking visionary and people-oriented leadership in the state.
“We firmly believe that Kaduna State deserves a leader who will prioritise unity, security, education, economic development, youth empowerment and justice for all citizens regardless of background,” the statement added.
