Ambassador Yerima Shettima has been appointed Deputy Director, Labour Union Relations (II), in the presidential campaign organisation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The appointment, according to Shettima, is an opportunity to contribute to the success of the campaign through effective engagement with organised labour and other critical stakeholders.
Reacting to the appointment, Shettima expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him, describing the responsibility as an honour and a call to greater service.
He also commended Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for recommending him for the position, saying the gesture demonstrated the governor’s confidence in his ability to contribute meaningfully to the success of the campaign.
Shettima assured the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the campaign organisation that he would give his best to deliver on the mandate entrusted to him.
He said he would work with other members of the campaign team to strengthen engagement with labour unions, mobilise support and promote the campaign’s message across the country.
The new appointee called on APC members and supporters, organised labour, community leaders and other stakeholders to support the campaign and work collectively towards the success of President Tinubu and the party.
He also urged the people of Kaduna State and Nigerians generally to continue to support Governor Uba Sani, describing him as a leader committed to good governance, development and the progress of the people.
Shettima reaffirmed his commitment to teamwork, peaceful engagement and effective mobilisation, stressing that the task ahead required the collective efforts of party members and supporters.
He expressed optimism that with the support of Nigerians and the dedication of the campaign team, the APC would achieve its objectives and secure continued progress under the leadership of President Tinubu.
Shettima was an aspirant for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District seat on the platform of the APC before voluntarily withdrawing from the race, a decision he described as an act of loyalty to the party.
