The Executive Chairman of Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Hon. Anto Usman, has said the council is targeting 95 per cent votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 elections.
Usman said the target was informed by what he described as the development interventions of the Sani administration in the local government, as well as efforts by the council to mobilise residents to support the president, governor and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking in an interview, the chairman said Sanga had witnessed significant development under Governor Sani, citing the construction of a 10-kilometre road, the ongoing renovation and redesign of the General Hospital and the resuscitation of primary healthcare centres across the local government.
He also cited the approval of a satellite campus of Kaduna State University as one of the major interventions that had attracted government attention to the area.
According to him, Sanga had benefited from interventions in infrastructure, healthcare, education, security and human capital development, noting that the area had remained relatively backward for many years.
Usman said the projects and programmes had strengthened the confidence of residents in the administration and would form part of the council’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also commended Governor Sani for approving a 100 per cent increase in the remuneration of traditional rulers in Kaduna State, describing the decision as “a very good step in the right direction.”
The chairman said the increase was particularly significant given the prevailing economic realities, adding that traditional rulers played an important role in maintaining peace and mobilising communities for development.
He said the council was “very, very ready” to reciprocate the gesture by mobilising support for Tinubu, Sani and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Usman disclosed that Sanga currently had between 35,000 and 40,000 registered voters, expressing optimism that the local government could deliver about 95 per cent support for the APC.
He, however, clarified that the remaining five per cent should not necessarily be interpreted as opposition to the party, explaining that some registered voters might be unable to participate in the election for one reason or another.
“We are very, very ready. We are going to mobilise our people to support Mr President, our governor and all APC candidates,” he said.
On security, Usman commended the relationship between the local government and security agencies, saying the collaboration had contributed to efforts to maintain peace in Sanga.
He nevertheless called for the deployment of additional security personnel to the local government, saying increased manpower would complement the existing security arrangements and further strengthen the protection of residents and communities.
The chairman expressed confidence that sustained government interventions and improved security would further boost development and strengthen support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
