Kaduna Judiciary To Unveil Rules For Quick Dispensation Of Justice, NBA Chair Reveals

The Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association Barnawa branch, Bar. Vitus Azuka Ewuzie has disclosed that the Kaduna State Judiciary will soon unveil the Civil Procedure Rules for quick dispensation of justice in the State.

Bar. Ewuzie made the disclosure yesterday at the annual Law Week 2024 of the Barnawa branch with the theme; ‘The Essence of Time in The Administration of Justice in Nigeria’.

“We commend the Honourable Chief Judge of Kaduna State, the Hon. Justice M.T.M Aliyu for his spirited and pragmatic steps in amending the High Courts (Civil Procedure) Rules and the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Kaduna State in order to bring in provisions that would ensure quick and expeditious dispensation of both civil and criminal matters in the State.

“In doing this the Honourable Chief Judge of Kaduna State assembled all the major stakeholders in Justice Sector, including the members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)Branches in Kaduna State. We recommend this to other States of the Federation”.

“The Chief Judge has put stakeholders, the people that are well concerned about justice delivery to come together and discuss the civil procedure rules of High Court of Kaduna State”.

“It is expedient for major actors and stakeholders in the justice sector to find an appropriate time limit (from the commencement to conclusion) within which all cases or suits in Nigeria would be concludes within reasonable time as it is obtainable in electoral matters pursuant to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 (As Amended)”.

He said, “Very soon the civil procedure rules of Kaduna State 2024 will be unveiled, in this new rules there are various provisions that ensure that justice is delivered timely”.

He however, said that timely delivery of justice will make the citizenry believe in judiciary.

The Chairman 2024 Law Week planning Committee, Bar. Bukola Ajao, noted with dismay that time taken for the determination of a matter affects the quality of justice received by the parties.

She however, hoped that at the end of the Law Week there will be reforms, strategies, solutions towards addressing the challenges faced in the administration of justice in the State.
