KASU Students Salutes Gov Sani For Appointing Prof. Ibrahim As Head Scholarship Board

Students of Kaduna State University have commended Governor Uba Sani for appointing Prof. Yahya Saleh Ibrahim as Executive Secretary Kaduna State Scholarship and Loan Board, describing the head of the agency as an achiever.

The students said welfare and academic interests of students had never received better attention in the history of the states than under the present administration.

Prominent amongst the Students heaping praises on the Executive Secretary is a Masters Student in Development Studies and Policy Analysis, Economic Department, kaduna State University Comrade Abubakar Adamu who stated that loan and scholarship issues of students can now be said to be receiving the needed attention, adding that three Medical students in Cuba had been sponsored to continue their studies for the good of the state.

He revealed that virtual tokens as requirements for scholarship applications for indigent students in rural communities of the state who can not afford the cumbersome nature of tax clearance had been introduced.

“Review of Law School Students’ Scholarships, MBBS service charges payments, and Nursing service charges payments, creation of computer centres in seven zonal units to ease the application process for indigents and rural communities.

“His Excellency supported the board to ensure the graduation of our medical doctors from Kampala International University Uganda, as the medical doctors are billed to write their professional examination in September 2024.

“The present administration provided 30 brand-new desktop computers to the Board to ensure a seamless application process across all seven zonal application centers and inclusion of a government special scholarship intervention program for Innovation, Aviation, Meritorious, and Underprivileged students,” he said

“He ensured safe and successful return of one of our scholars, Shamsudeen Abdullahi hat was stranded in the UK and supported NAKASS with an office space at KADSSLB Head Quarters for ease of liaison.

“He introduced physical verification of scholarship applicants to ensure inclusivity as suggested by Governor Uba Sani and supervised by the Governor’s adviser, Mal Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar.

“Inter-university knowledge and curriculum transfer with foreign and local universities to reduce cost of foreign sponsorship and increase local university quality, knowledge exchange and visibility.

“Introduction of skill acquisition and academic upscaling of teachers in both secondary and primary schools to support skill transfers at early education and evacuated Kaduna State students from Sudan due to conflict.

“His Excellency promotes women in technical and vocational education by retaining the admission of 50 Kaduna State female students at Mewar University reading computer engineering, computer science , and software engineering.

“The next step is selection of rural indigent adolescent girls to read vocational education to maintain skill acquisition in rural primary and secondary education. This is a fight against knowledge poverty in Kaduna state. Students’ returnees from IUA Sudan were readmitted into Nigerian Universities to continue with their studies.

“The inclusivity policy of His Excellency supported 3 Kaduna State students with disabilities to study at the University of Wollongong, Dubai. Payment of scholarship to successful scholarship applicants at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State University, Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Federal College of Education Zaria, Bayero University Kano. In all the total number of students from awarded from May-July is 366.

“Enlisting 14 nursing students into the nursing council having graduated for almost two years without having opportunity for their school to be recognised and accepted by the Federal Ministry of Education as well as National University Commission. But with the intervention of the board, the 14 nurses were not only accepted and recognised but were posted to ABU teaching hospital and Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital AKTH as perquisite in their professional journey. All these were achieved under H.E. Sen. Mal Uba Sani’s administration.

“The nine Kaduna State sponsored medical students in Cuba, out of which six will be graduating this month August, 2024, have enjoyed unrestricted access to the board with H.E. interacting all the time with Cuban Ambassador for our students wellbeing” he added.
