NUJ Presidential Aspirant Garba Charges IGP,  Others To Rescue 10 Kidnapped Journalists

The Presidential aspirant of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Garba Muhammad for President, GMP, has called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP, the National Security Adviser,NSA, to and other security agencies to hasten the rescue of 10 Journalists that were kidnapped travelling to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State for the Super Eagles game against Libya on Friday.

It was reported that the eleven journalists kidnapped were going for the coverage of the World Cup qualifying match when hoodlums attacked the vehicle they were traveling in.

Additional information has it that, of the eleven journalists kidnapped one was able to escape, with 10 still in captivity.

GMP while commending the efforts of the federal government on the successes so far recorded in the fight against banditry and terrorism in the country, wants government to speed up efforts in the rescue of the kidnapped journalists and the arrest of the perpetrators of the barbaric act.

“We know and see what government is doing in this fight against banditry and terrorism and we (Nigerians) truly appreciate their efforts, but the IGP and NSA and other security agencies must act now and fast for their release like they did in case of the two kidnapped journalists”, Muhammad added.

Those still in captivity are: Camera Operators Kola Omoniyi, Chike, lyke, Buchi, Everett, Oliseh, Abiodun and Precious.
