Supporters of former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, have formally activated a new phase of political mobilisation with the appointment of 20 state chairmen under the Dan Amana Movement.

The grassroots platform, built around the political philosophy and legacy of the former Rivers State governor, announced that the newly appointed coordinators will be inaugurated on Saturday in Kaduna as part of efforts to consolidate nationwide structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The movement derives its name from the traditional title “Dan Amana,” meaning “The Trusted One,” conferred on Amaechi by the Daura Emirate in recognition of what supporters describe as his integrity and years of public service.

Spokesperson of the movement, Hon. Mustapha Mohammed, said the appointment of the 20 chairmen marks a “strategic and proactive step” towards strengthening grassroots engagement and expanding the former minister’s political footprint across the federation.

According to him, the state chairmen were selected based on loyalty, leadership capacity and commitment to the ideals of trust, accountability and national development associated with Amaechi’s public career.

He explained that the coordinators are expected to spearhead advocacy for electoral integrity, particularly the mandatory real-time electronic transmission of election results, which the movement believes is critical to enhancing transparency and reducing electoral violence.

Beyond electoral reforms, the group said it would actively promote Amaechi’s record in rail and transport infrastructure development as a blueprint for national growth, while also engaging in policy advocacy on economic reforms and the strengthening of democratic institutions.

“At this critical juncture in our nation’s journey, Nigeria requires leadership that is tested and trusted. The inauguration of these 20 chairmen in Kaduna underscores our resolve to ensure that Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi’s contributions serve as a foundation for building a more accountable and development-driven nation,” Mohammed stated.

The movement further reiterated its commitment to peaceful and democratic engagement, citing Amaechi’s participation in lawful civic actions at the National Assembly in support of electoral reforms.

With structures now taking shape across 20 states, political watchers say the Dan Amana Movement appears poised to play a significant role in shaping conversations ahead of the 2027 political contest.
