Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has called for unity, compassion and peaceful coexistence as Muslims commence the holy month of Ramadan and Christians observe the Lenten season, announcing the release of over 90 inmates convicted for minor offences across the state.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the governor congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Kaduna State, Nigeria and across the world on the beginning of Ramadan, urging the faithful to embrace reflection, charity and spiritual renewal.

He described Ramadan as a sacred pillar of faith that refines the soul and elevates the spirit, praying that Almighty Allah grants Muslims strength, serenity and abundant blessings throughout the fasting period.

According to him, beyond abstinence from food and drink, the holy month represents “a school of character and a sanctuary for the heart,” calling on believers to deepen their devotion to God, strengthen bonds of brotherhood and extend kindness to the less privileged.

He  further disclosed that, as part of activities marking the sacred season, alongside the Christian observance of Lent  the governor approved the payment of fines and settlement of compensation for more than 90 convicts sentenced for minor offences.

He added that the intervention aimed at providing relief to deserving inmates, promoting reconciliation and offering them a fresh start in line with the moral lessons symbolised by both religious seasons.

Governor Sani urged the beneficiaries to embrace peace, seek forgiveness where necessary and commit to lives of integrity, obedience to the rule of law and service to humanity.

He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to consolidate peace, revitalise the economy and promote sustainable development, adding that the gesture underscores government’s commitment to rehabilitation, social reintegration and communal harmony across the state.
