The Kaduna State Climate Change Accountability Mechanism (KADCCAM) has called on residents to actively participate in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for tomorrow.

In a statement issued by the Co-Chair, Ibrahima Yakubu, KADCCAM emphasized the need for a clean and healthy environment, urging citizens to take responsibility for tidying their homes and surroundings.

Yakubu noted that the exercise, which runs from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., requires residents to remain indoors to ensure full participation and effectiveness of the cleanup activities.

The statement highlighted the broader benefits of maintaining environmental hygiene, stressing that proper sanitation helps prevent the spread of diseases across communities.

KADCCAM also pointed to successful sanitation practices in states such as Kano, Plateau, and Nasarawa, noting that regular end-of-the-month exercises have significantly improved public health outcomes in those areas.

While urging widespread participation, the mechanism clarified that certain categories of workers, including journalists, healthcare personnel, and security operatives, would be exempt from the restrictions during the sanitation period.

“Residents are encouraged to cooperate fully with local authorities and community leaders to ensure a smooth and impactful exercise”.

“Environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility. Every home and street matters,” Yakubu said.

The mechanism also appealed to citizens to maintain the momentum beyond the exercise, advocating daily practices that support hygiene and public health.
