The Christian Media Forum (CMF) has condemned the recent killings in Rukuba area of Jos, Plateau State, describing the incident as barbaric and a threat to national unity.

In a statement jointly signed by its National President, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, and National Secretary, Andrew Ibrahim Mshelia, the forum expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives.

The forum said such acts of violence must never be tolerated in any civilised society, stressing that evil should not be allowed to prevail under any circumstance.

The forum noted that recurring attacks in parts of the country, including recent incidents in Kaduna and Plateau states, have heightened concerns over the safety of citizens, particularly those in vulnerable communities.

The CMF called on security agencies to redouble their efforts in tackling insecurity and act swiftly to prevent further loss of lives.

According to the statement, there is a need for intelligence-driven operations and proactive strategies to identify and dismantle criminal elements responsible for such attacks.

The forum also urged law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators of the Rukuba killings are apprehended and prosecuted without delay.

CMF stressed that justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done in order to restore public confidence in the country’s security system.

Describing the incident as a sad reminder of the nation’s security challenges, the forum said more needs to be done to protect lives and property.

The forum urged both federal and state governments to prioritise the safety of citizens, noting that safeguarding lives remains the primary responsibility of government.
