The League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja (LAJA) has urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the message of Easter by sustaining hope and unity, while calling on the Federal Government to take decisive steps to address the country’s worsening insecurity.

In a statement, signed by the President of the association, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, and the Secretary, Princess-Ekwi Ajide, on Monday, said the resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolises sacrifice, victory over death, and the promise of new life, urging citizens to reflect on its deeper meaning.

LAJA noted that beyond the festivities, Easter remains a powerful reminder that light will always triumph over darkness, stressing that hope can endure even in difficult times.

The group expressed concern over the persistent insecurity across the country, warning that no nation can thrive where fear continues to threaten lives and livelihoods.

It called on Nigerians to renew their faith in God, embrace unity, and show compassion to one another, especially in a period marked by economic hardship and social uncertainty.

LAJA urged citizens to rise above divisions, extend support to the vulnerable, and recommit themselves to building a more just and peaceful society.

While emphasising the spiritual significance of the season, the association tasked the Federal Government to prioritise the protection of lives and property, describing it as a fundamental constitutional responsibility.

LAJA stressed that beyond rhetoric, Nigerians deserve concrete, sustained, and transparent actions that will restore public confidence and guarantee security across the country.

The group encouraged citizens not to lose hope despite prevailing challenges, urging them to remain resilient, law-abiding, and united in the collective pursuit of a better Nigeria.
