As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum, an aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Hon. Sylvester Anthony, popularly known as Brando, has formally declared his intention to contest, pledging effective, inclusive and people-oriented representation.
Anthony made the declaration on Saturday in Zonkwa at a ceremony attended by party supporters, stakeholders, traditional leaders, youth groups, women associations and community members from across the constituency.
Chairman of the occasion, Dr Thod Joseph Dogo, a former Kaduna State commissioner for health and former chairman of Jaba Local Government Area, who was represented by the Kaduna State regional manager of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Mr Peter Buba, described the aspirant as a competent and experienced leader.
Buba, who is also the Jagaban of Piriga Chiefdom, said Anthony’s exposure at the National Assembly has equipped him with the capacity to provide effective representation.
He said the aspirant had demonstrated commitment to the welfare of the people through various interventions and urged constituents to support his ambition.
Also speaking, chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, Comrade Jerry Adams, called on the people of the constituency to remain supportive of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani had continued to execute projects across the state.
Adams appealed to party delegates and residents to support Anthony during the APC primary, expressing confidence that his emergence would enhance grassroots development and empowerment.
In separate remarks, chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Council, Engr. Bege Gaiya; member representing Zangon Kataf constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Samuel Kambai; and Hon. Henry Mara, representing Jaba constituency, commended the aspirant’s contributions to the area.
They expressed confidence in his ability to attract development and urged the electorate to support him.
In his speech, Anthony thanked supporters and party leaders for their confidence in him and appealed for their backing.
He promised to provide responsive and inclusive representation if elected.
According to him, his priorities include infrastructure development, youth and women empowerment, improved education, healthcare delivery and job creation.

He also pledged to work with security agencies and community leaders to promote peace in the constituency.
Highlight of the event was the inauguration of his campaign structure and the donation of seven vehicles to campaign leaders, including APC chairmen in Zangon Kataf and Jaba local government areas.
Fifty motorcycles were also distributed to ward APC chairmen and campaign coordinators across the constituency.
Some beneficiaries commended the gesture and pledged support for his ambition.
