The League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja (LAJA) has congratulated Nigerian workers on the 2026 Workers’ Day, urging them to remain resilient and hopeful despite the country’s economic challenges.

In a statement signed by its president, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, and secretary, Princess-Ekwi Ajide, the association commended workers for their dedication, patriotism and contributions to national development.

LAJA noted that this year’s Workers’ Day celebration comes at a time when many Nigerians are facing economic and social difficulties but continue to demonstrate commitment to their duties.

The group particularly praised media professionals for their role in promoting democracy, accountability and truth, often under challenging conditions.

It urged journalists to remain professional and committed to ethical standards, stressing that their work is critical to strengthening democratic values and amplifying citizens’ voices.

The association also commended workers across various sectors for their perseverance and contributions to the growth of the country.

It called on governments at all levels, employers and other stakeholders to prioritise workers’ welfare through fair remuneration, improved working conditions and policies that support productivity.

LAJA encouraged workers not to lose hope but to continue striving for excellence while believing in a better future.

It added that the labour of Nigerian workers should translate into progress, prosperity and fulfilment for both individuals and the nation.
