The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kaduna State chapter, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening compliance, transparency and accountability in public procurement across the state’s 23 local government areas.
The commitment was conveyed by the ALGON Vice Chairman and Executive Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Council, Hon. Dauda Madaki, on behalf of the state ALGON Chairman, Hon. Shehu Jamilu Albani, at a capacity-building workshop for procurement officers in Kaduna.
Madaki said transparent procurement was critical to preventing project abandonment and ensuring the delivery of quality infrastructure to communities at the grassroots.
He commended the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for advancing public financial management reforms in the state, saying improved procurement practices would strengthen accountability in the management of public resources.
Madaki also commended the Director-General of the Kaduna State Public Procurement Authority (KADPPA), Engr. Sanusi A. Yero, for efforts to enforce procurement standards.
He urged participants at the workshop to translate the knowledge acquired into practical measures that would improve procurement processes and promote effective governance in their respective local government areas.
The ALGON vice chairman reiterated the association’s resolve to institutionalise compliance, transparency and accountability across the 23 local government councils.
