A group of friends and former schoolmates of Senator Shehu Sani has commenced plans to mobilise grassroots support for his candidacy in the 2027 Kaduna Central Senatorial District election.
The group, known as the Senator Shehu Sani Friends and Schoolmates Support Group, is led by Engr. Peter Henry Sule.
Sule said the group was made up of close childhood friends and technocrats drawn from different states across the country, adding that its major objective was to reach voters at the grassroots and mobilise support for Sani ahead of the election.
Shehu Sani is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kaduna Central in the 2027 election, having won the party’s senatorial primary in May.
Sule said members of the group reflected on Sani’s involvement in the struggle for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria and his activities as a human rights activist in Nigeria and beyond.
According to him, the group believes Sani has remained committed to the interests of less privileged Nigerians and has maintained close interactions with ordinary people and electorates.
He said the group’s mobilisation strategy had been structured to reach communities and voters across the senatorial district ahead of the 2027 poll.
Sule also said the group would, by extension, support the political interests of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.
He explained that the decision was based on what he described as a mutual understanding among them and their contributions to the development of democracy in Nigeria.

Sule said the group would continue its grassroots mobilisation and engagement with electorates as the 2027 elections approach.
