The Southern Kaduna Peoples’ United Associations (SOKAPU) has extended goodwill messages to Christians and Muslims as they commence the Lenten and Ramadan seasons, urging adherents of both faiths to use the sacred periods to pray for unity and peace in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on February 18, 2026, and signed by its National President, Engr. Tabara Samuel Kato, the association congratulated Nigerians, particularly the people of Kaduna State, on the commencement of the annual spiritual exercises.

SOKAPU said the simultaneous observance of Lent and Ramadan presents a unique opportunity for reflection, sacrifice and renewed commitment to harmonious coexistence among diverse ethnic and religious groups.

The group also commended Governor Uba Sani for efforts aimed at promoting inclusion and strengthening peace across communities in the state.

According to the association, recent initiatives such as the approval for the creation of a Hausa Royal Dynasty within the Zazzau Emirate and the restoration of Christian pilgrimage programmes demonstrate a commitment to fairness and balance.

SOKAPU expressed optimism that prayers offered during the holy seasons would translate into lasting unity, improved security and sustainable development in Kaduna State and the country at large.

It called on Christians and Muslims to embrace tolerance, compassion and shared responsibility in building a peaceful society
