The political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections may be taking a new turn as the National Youth Alliance (NYA) has formally aligned with the Action Democratic Party (ADP), with both groups declaring their intention to produce a youth president.

The alliance was announced on Thursday at a world press conference held in Kano, where the President of NYA, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, disclosed that the organisation, alongside its structures across the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and 774 local government areas, had adopted ADP as its political platform.

Abbas said the move reflects growing dissatisfaction among young Nigerians with the current political class, noting that the time had come for a generational shift in leadership.

He argued that many of the country’s challenges persist due to leadership failures, expressing confidence that the ADP would offer a credible alternative capable of addressing them if voted into power in 2027.

According to him, despite lacking the financial strength of more established political parties, the alliance is relying on the numerical strength, resilience and potential of Nigerian youths to drive political change.

“Nigeria is blessed with abundant human and natural resources. What is required now is leadership that can harness these potentials for national development, and that is what ADP represents,” he said.

Abbas added that the integration of NYA’s nationwide structures into the ADP has already generated momentum, expressing optimism about victory at the polls.

Also speaking, the Kano State Secretary of ADP, Rabiu Pepsi Gwale, described the alliance as a significant boost to the party’s prospects, insisting that the inclusion of Abbas strengthens its chances in the 2027 elections.

He maintained that the ADP remains one of the few political parties without internal crises, positioning it as a credible platform for national transformation.

The event also featured cultural performances, including the unveiling of Hausa music by Aki Prince Zaki, Sarkin Waka, Aliyu Haidar, as well as a performance by a Kilago group.
