Drone Forge Africa, in collaboration with Jobulb EduConsult, has trained children and teenagers in Kaduna State in artificial intelligence (AI), drone technology, robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT) as part of efforts to equip young Nigerians with digital skills for the future.
The one-day capacity-building workshop, held at the Tech Hub, Almara Center, Kaduna, brought together participants from different schools and communities for practical demonstrations and interactive sessions on emerging technologies and their applications across key sectors, including agriculture, education, healthcare, transportation and security.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Drone Forge Africa, Mr. Nasir Muhammad Auwal, urged participants to maximise the opportunity provided by the training, describing digital technology as a critical driver of global development.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain committed to continuous learning, innovation and creativity, stressing that acquiring digital skills would position them to take advantage of opportunities in the rapidly evolving global economy.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of Jobulb EduConsult, Ms. Joyce Adeji, said empowering young people through technology education is vital to preparing Nigeria for the future.
She urged the participants to see the workshop as the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and innovation, noting that problem-solving and technological competence are becoming increasingly important in today’s world.
The Program Officer of Jobulb EduConsult, Rev. Michael Ijah Ikpa, commended the partnership between the two organisations, describing the initiative as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future.
According to him, exposing children to drone technology, artificial intelligence, robotics and IoT at an early age would enhance critical thinking, innovation and competitiveness in the global digital economy.
Rev. Ikpa disclosed that Drone Forge Africa and Jobulb EduConsult are planning a larger digital technology workshop during the forthcoming long vacation, expected to hold at Murtala Square in Kaduna.
He said the proposed programme would feature practical training, exhibitions, mentorship sessions and hands-on experiences in drone operations, AI applications, robotics, coding and other emerging technologies.
The organisers reaffirmed their commitment to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) education and called on government agencies, educational institutions, development partners, parents and private sector organisations to support initiatives that equip Nigerian children and young people with future-ready digital skills.
