Residents of Karji community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State are set to benefit from a one-day free medical outreach today as three national health institutions and a private hospital collaborate to provide services.

The outreach, which holds at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Karji, is expected to attract hundreds of residents seeking medical attention across different specialties.

The participating institutions include the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Barnawa, National Eye Centre Kaduna, National Ear Care Centre Kaduna, and Harmony Hospital Barnawa.

The programme is being organised by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Nigeria Kaduna Archdiocese through its Intercessory Ministry.

A source familiar with the arrangement said the initiative is aimed at improving access to healthcare while also creating awareness on critical health conditions affecting the eyes, ears and mental health.

He noted that conditions such as glaucoma, hearing impairment and neurological challenges remain major public health concerns that often go undetected until later stages.

“For the first time, three national hospitals are coming together under one platform within the Archdiocese to offer free medical services to residents,” the source said.

According to the organisers, the outreach is scheduled to begin at 9am and will feature consultations, screenings, basic treatment and health education.

Hospital officials indicated that the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Barnawa and Harmony Hospital Barnawa are expected to attend to over 100 patients, while the National Eye Centre Kaduna and the National Ear Care Centre Kaduna will each manage at least 100 beneficiaries.

The organisers said the outreach is part of ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between healthcare delivery and community needs, particularly at the grassroots level.
